About Us

Norwood French Immersion Preschool (NFIP) is a small, part-time preschool (nursery school) for potty-trained children ages 3 and 4. For more than twenty years, we have delivered a gentle French immersion preschool program that focuses on increasing and enhancing children’s social, motor, and intellectual development in a fun, French-speaking environment through crafts, games, stories, outings and social interaction.

Our teacher has experience working with children and has an Early Childhood Education degree, classification level II (ECE II).

No previous knowledge of French is required and all parent communication is conducted in English.

NFIP is licensed by the Manitoba Early Learning and Child Care Program, which means we are inspected annually to ensure we are meeting The Community Child Care Standards Act and Regulations. We follow the provincially mandated teacher:child ratio for nursery schools, which is 1:10. For more information on our licensing, visit Manitoba Child Care.

Our preschool is also a registered charity and run by a parent volunteer board of directors — families of children enrolled in our school play a very crucial role in all aspects of the program. Our operating costs are funded by an operating grant from the Manitoba government, monthly tuition fees and regular fundraising.

NFIP is located in Ecole Provencher, a French immersion elementary school in the St. Boniface community of Winnipeg.
